“András Déri, Hungarian dancer-choreographer, in his new solo is exploring the four elements (earth, water, air, fire), made through his latest residency program (Mozdulat 100+) at Orkesztika Foundation by a given theme to reinterpret an expressionist choreography (1943-46) by Éva E.Kovács. The study of the reconstructions evolved into a general analysis of the elements observing his encounters with them and finding exiting intersections with his experiences in urban dance. One result of this research is displaying a universal applicability: either how through the analysis of the element (qualities, attributes, dynamics, energies, meanings) can we arrive to urban dance, or the other way around, how expressive potential is lying within the urban dance styles through associative games, abstractions, or shifting the approach of their applications in an artistic context. András Déri is interested in continuity, interactions and transformation.”
